What We're Looking For
Sub-Genres
At Dragon Bone publishing, we believe in the mixing and matching of genres to tell a story like no other. We don't believe in trend conformity or genre restrictions. While we ask that submissions be mainly sci-fi or fantasy (or science fantasy), we are specifically looking for stories that are hard to capture within the confines of one specific trend or genre.
Sci-fi
We believe Sci-fi is an incredibly important genre that is more than just fancy tech or dystopian futures. Sci-fi dives into the deepest parts of humanity's inner selves. It shines light on our deepest desires and greatest faults. It creates a space where we can explore humanity in a much different world than ours now and contemplate where we made be headed as a species.
Fantasy
Fantasy is a genre most known for its fantastical settings, big arching plots, fights between good and evil, majestic battles and swoony romances. We're looking to peel back its trending, superficial layers and use fantasy to explore a vast sea of emotions, worldviews/beliefs, governments, and settings so different from ours, they eerily explain ours in a way we could never dream of.
Experimental Fiction & Works of Passion
We're thirsting for stories that leave a lasting impact, not just fill a dusty space on a shelf next to others just exactly like it. We want your strangest tales and deepest emotions. We want what you're scared to write, to publish, to share, but cannot live without.
What Does Working With Us Look Like?
​Dragon Bone Publishing is an indie publishing company run by two authors. We have a passion for helping authors achieve their goals with their books. We work closely with authors to ensure that we meet their wants and needs. We pay for editing services, have an in-house artist to design gorgeous covers, run cover reveal campaigns, send out ARCS, market, and work with our authors so they learn how to market themselves and their books. We are trying to set ourselves and our authors up for success.
